About the doulas
Meghan Stahl is a birth doula, lactation counselor, and midwife’s assistant with more than 12 years of experience serving expecting families. She has four children ranging in age from four years old to 12 years old as well as two step-children and four cats. Meghan’s birth work journey started as a young child when, at only six years old, a Life magazine coffee table book and an old family medical guide sparked her fascination and love for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. For thirty years, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum have been her one true love!
Before becoming pregnant with her first child she began her training to become a DONA certified doula and served at-risk families in Minneapolis, Minnesota through a non-profit organization called Everyday Miracles. During the three years she worked with Everyday Miracles she also taught weekly childbirth education classes for program participants. After moving to Indiana, Meghan took a step back to focus on raising her two young sons and building a new community in Columbus, Indiana. She became a La Leche League leader, a WIC peer counselor in Bartholomew County, and a Certified Lactation Specialist. After the birth of her third son she started studying midwifery through Ancient Art Midwifery Institute, serving as a home birth apprentice with a local midwife, and a midwife’s assistant with Mother Nurtured Midwifery. Although life stepped in and prevented her from becoming a Certified Professional Midwife, Meghan still works as a midwife’s assistant. Meghan has a broad range of experiences to bring to expecting families. She has supported families welcoming their precious babies everywhere from candle-lit home births to planned elective cesareans. Personally she has given birth to four children naturally, two hospital water births and two home water births. Now, after several years not serving as a doula, Meghan is in a season of her life which permits her to return to her roots and walk with expecting families through fertility, pregnancy, labor and birth, and the early postpartum and is looking forward to changing the narrative of childbirth in America, one family at a time. Jessica Petro is a birth and postpartum doula with more than 9 years of experience serving families before, during, and after birth. She is a mother of three who became interested in birth support when an amazing nurse held her hand and talked her through the birth of her second child. Her calm and loving presence has been an asset to many families over the years. She has since been able to expand her skills and knowledge in order to better serve families. Jessica is a DONA trained birth doula who has also studied through Birth Arts International, and Pro Doula.
